I made sure that I had a friend at every class so I wouldn't walk in and be alone. Not long after coming I was introduced to others in the 5:30am class and the comradery began to develop. The anxiety dissipated. I bring this up because I don't think I am the only one who has felt this way. We all have had our "first class" nerves. We speak of community a lot at JD and its because its the foundation and heart of this gym. We want everyone who walks in to feel seen and supported. We want your hour with us to be a time of connection with friends, sweating out the stress of the week and feeling empowered to be your best self. So, I encourage you to keep this on your mind when you come to class. Let's keeps our eyes open for ways we can continue to broaden this awesome and inclusive community: Sit and stretch in a new part of the gym (scary, I know).
